A Series of Training Sessions for Regional Journalists Launched

Dnipropetrovsk hosted the first workshop on consumer rights for journalists of the regional media that specialize in coverage of the topics associated with the consumer rights and foodstuff markets. The training opened a series of training workshops that will bring together representatives of the government, regulatory and rights protection organizations.

The education events are organized by the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Association of the Human Right Protection “Advokat” with the financial support of AVK as one of the wining projects of the grant competition. The major goal of this project is to enhance the professional expertise of regional media, in particular, in coverage of consumer issues.

The first seminar was moderated by consumer rights experts: Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Chief Department on Consumer Rights Protection Natalia Zikrata, Deputy Director of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Scientific and Technical Standardization Center Svitlana Toropchinova-Ahalakova, Yuriy Bezuhliy, and Tatiana Horenych. The 23 journalists from various media of Dnipropetrovsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblast attended the event .

The common discussion of case studies – applications of consumers to different regulatory agencies, court proceedings, the basics of the consumer law – allowed journalists to get a comprehensive knowledge of the liabilities of regulatory agencies, trading companies and producers. It has also brought the light to the issue how consumers could efficiently defend their rights.

A journalist of the Dnipropetrovsk newspaper “Nashe m i s t o” Olena Misnyk said, “Readers frequently ask the media how they may behave in this or that situation. Thanks to the competent explanations we may provide our readership with the qualified mat??erials on consumer rights. We will be able to monitor and review resonate confl??ic??t ´?situations in a professional way”, she believes.

AVK intentionally strengthen the public mechanisms of the consumer right protection. The enhancement of the independent consumer lobby contributes to the increased authority of and confidence of the Company. Acting General Director of AVK Andriy Dykunov believes that the literate consumer s the most reliable defense to protect markets from unfair competitors.

“AVK articulates not only verbally but also demonstrates physically its adherence to the protection of its consumer, we issue high quality products and want that the maximum possible spectrum of consumers appraise its innovations and “get more into details”. We want that not only connoisseur know that AVK sticks to the trickiest quality rules, to the principles of the responsibility and transparency”, says Andriy Dykunov.

The confectionery, food sector of the Ukrainian economy will be developing even more intensively if all interested parties start to interact: the government, producers, consumers, non-government organizations and media.
